Juicy Secrets Loses a Friend

It’s my sad duty to inform the Juicy Secrets community that one of our celebrated authors was recently taken from us. The writer who went by the name Karin Halle passed away a few days ago.

She had mentioned being hospitalized, but didn’t go into detail as to why. As it transpired, she was fighting cancer… and not long after our last communication, she lost the final battle. One of Karin’s relations ran across an email I’d sent, and was kind enough to fill me in on her passing.

I only really knew Karin in the way that an editor can know a writer, though our relationship was a good and friendly one. I liked her stories immensely, she was nearly always satisfied with what input I provided, and we were always on the best of terms.

It’s striking to note how many of her stories feature characters who are going through setbacks in their lives, if not outright tragedy… and in every case, love serves to ease their sorrows over the long haul. There’s a lesson for us there, if we have the wisdom to see it.

I promise you this: we’ve not seen the last of Karin Halle’s work at Juicy Secrets. She was an amazingly prolific writer, turning out stories much faster than they could be edited. There are at least a dozen more in our possession, and as long as this site exists, we will continue to share them with you.

Thank you, Karin, for the gift of your creativity. Whatever realm you currently wander in the hereafter, we hope it is a blissful one.

Very sad to hear. I went to check out my favorite story of hers on this site, Season of Goodwill. It seemed fitting.

  2. Sapphmore says:

Getting one, let alone several stories posted on JS is better than getting a Blue Peter badge (a Brit thing), so that makes it a very special club, and therefore very sad when we lose one of our own.
We don’t know if she leaves anyone who was aware of her relationship with JS, who might take some solace in our appreciation of her work, but we hope she left something in the hearts of her loved ones.
I’ve no doubt that JB or JJ will do her legacy justice.

It saddens me to hear that another one of Juicy Secrets beloved Authors has passed on to the hereafter. I as the rest of the Juicy Secrets community Hopes that Karen Halle is at peace. My heart felt condolences goes out to the loved ones Karen leaves behind. Her spirit and her writing will live on in the hearts of the Juicy Secrets community. May Peace be with you dear Karen Halle.

I had the privilege of editing one of Karin’s stories earlier this year (Mother-Daughter Bond), and although I didn’t get to know her well, my brief correspondence with Karin revealed her to be a kind, well-spoken person.

As it happens, I have a pile of Karin’s stories on my admittedly neglected editors desk, and even before learning of her sad passing, the plan was to work through them so they can eventually be posted here.

The author has moved on but their words remain. And thus, the work continues.

I’m sorry to hear this sad news. I enjoyed some of Karen’s work and hope to see whatever more is to come.

It was something of a fluke that Jetboy should be informed of her passing. It makes me think of the many who write our type of thing in our small world. How often have writers disappeared without us ever knowing the reason why. I suspect that many were or are quite old, at an age where anything can happen and there’s no one to tell us of the reasons why they have gone.
